We are a packaging firm with our current website an online catalogue of many of our products. Boxes, padded envelopes, adhesive and packaging tapes etc.. Our line of products also includes custom printed packaging, e.g. a box, envelope, tape etc.. with a company logo or message. We designed our current website in house, but are now looking to expand our ventures. Here is the outline of the new project. An entirely new E-commerce website built around custom packaging. An example of the products could be [login to view URL] where you can see they devote a whole section to the custom class of packaging, with of course many differences. I would like to start out on a small but thorough scale, taking this one step at a time. This project requires just the building of a database that will power the eventual full site, plus a web page that will allow staff members of the company to upload new products to the site (hopefully a good database job will lead me to work with you, if you wish for more work, by building a successful design and implementation of the site we will be follow up by a further contract to expand the site). I would like to concentrate on just the printed tape section of the site for now, here is the example from uline again, [login to view URL] We have many different varieties of tape, more than the two shown in the example and can therefore provide a fuller interface for a website. Browse through the example above and see that you can select a tape grade/type, select a size, width and length, see prices and upload images or design them. I need to design a database, based on the specifications of the products we need. A brief outline. Tape type: There are several types of printed tape, paper, pvc, polypropylene, Kraft, acrylic etc.. Tape background color: background Size: etc.. Tape colors: up to 8. Quantity Etc… Once you have followed through with the example of the site I referenced, [login to view URL] Select a tape, color, size etc… you are then asked to either upload and submit artwork (usually a company logo) or design a logo. I would like this to be presented to the user too. I prefer that this site be designed using asp.net 2.0 and compatible databases (mssql).., if you wish to design using something else, there has to be a very good reason for doing so, I may consider it. Any possible bidders should be fluent in the above web programming/scripting skills. Bidders may be requested to provide a resume including the above skills, and proof they acquired the relevant qualifications. In every contract there are terms and conditions, and our aim is to be as fair as possible and rewarding for the successful bidder. From my experience in outsourcing in industry, specifically the web-design field, I have outlined the following as vital. Please read carefully before bidding. Communicating during the project is vital, and you must have some IM (yahoo, msn, Google) and be able to answer emails. Timing is Vital. I don't request crazy deadlines that are not attainable, rather we will discuss a valid timeframe and the work should be finished during this period. I can allow for little extra time for fixing bugs, improvements, unforeseen circumstances, but DO NOT BID if you plan to use these excuses over and over, likewise DO NOT BID if you are overwhelmed by your current work. Payment is as is set out by the terms of this freelancing website. I am perfectly happy to deposit money in the ESCROW, and even to split the amounts and pay as stages of the work are finished, not necessarily waiting till everything is in and paying at the end, I can pay as soon as I see results, even early results. I WILL NOT complete any payments upfront before work has even commenced. You may be honest and require this to work upfront due to things occurring in the past, but the buyer (myself) is in the same position. ABSOLUTELY no outsourcing: I am well aware of bidders both here and other freelancing sites that win bids, and then sell them on, either privately through people they have worked with, or publicly through reselling on a freelance site. I will consider any such behavior as breach of contract and will cease to work with you. As I have stated I want this eventually to be a full printed packaging website, but for now I will go with aspect of the site. A successful project will yield more work, building and the expansion of the site, and more work. Feel free to ask me questions, questions display sense and interest to me!!
