Endowment Mission

A prestigious sixth form college is turning 25 next year and to celebrate the milestone an endowment fund is to be launched to help bright individuals from a less privilege background. As a prestigious college there is a high possibility of the general public resisting the idea because of the following reasons 1) The expensive fees which the average Nigerian cannot afford 2) Most of the graduates proceed to a foreign university 3) The notion that the endowment fund is an avenue to enroll more students into the college All of the above notions can should be addressed in the write up 1) The expensive fees which the average Nigerian cannot afford The endowment fund is not to fund the student's stay in the college but to provide the necessary support for them after the college, progressing into higher education. The qualifying criteria for the fund will be of 2 forms. The student can either enrol for the A level course and proceed to the university after the completion of the course or proceed directly to university after secondary school. The endowment fund supports begins when the student starts the University education. . 2) Most of the graduates proceed to a foreign university Yes but the endowment fund is to sponsor qualified students to both local and foreign universities based on the best pathway for their prospective degree course. We aim to work closely with these universities as we already do for the paying students in the college. 3) The notion that the endowment fund is an avenue to enroll more students into the college Currently there is a scholarship scheme that has been setup for the students to attend the oxbridge college which will remain as a separate entity from the endowment fund For more information on the college please see the link below [login to view URL] s Reason for the fund We are faced with a major brain drain as a nation as a result of lack of the necessary support a significant number of bright minds are left with no choice but to bring their academic career to an abrupt end. We as a college want to contribute to solving this problem. A solution that will transcend the college's lifetime and bring the much needed hope to what could have been a hopeless situation. We want to raise bright minds for every possible sector in the country, a child from the slums of Lagos can one day sit on the helm of affairs of the nation because the endowment fund made it possible. World class doctors ,engineers, lawyers will be produced for this nation because of the collective effort of the public to address the lack of support.
