CHOOSE THE APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENT AND CAREER: A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Last year SMA (moments will go to college S1) is a busy time and simply press to me. Junior high and high school, I've been puzzling over this, can not wait to hurry to college, become mature and independent. In my heart, I save the dream, I really want to become a successful fashion designer. From childhood, I also like drawing and reading women's magazines such as Femina, Goddess, Elle, and Vogue.

I've been looking for information about fashion design program and almost following the admission test for college at an institute in Singapore when parents express their objections. They wanted me to study in Indonesia. The reason, they assume I can not yet released its own. They were afraid I do not feel at home and asked to go home. At that time I hear their opinion and approve; I really was not ready mentally to stay alone in a foreign country. It sounds whiny, but the mental preparation it is something that must have to be successful in college and living abroad.

At the time, I did not find S1 program in the field of fashion design in Indonesia that seem suitable. So, I randomly select another program that seems interesting S1 and available at the university I wanted. It was a moment which is quite chaotic, one of my family gathered to help me choose majors. They suggested the English Language and Literature program, the reason being I always get good grades in the subjects English, jomplang compared with the value in the mafia lessons (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry). I also like reading novels in English. In the brochure, career choice is also quite diverse: a teacher, translator, lecturer, secretary, entrepreneur, working in the tourism industry, etc. Finally, I chose English Literature as the first choice because it thought might be able to work in any company with a major in English Literature flexible as this. Goodbye, the Mafia! I had no expectations of anything. I just wanted to go and be able to S1 degree.
