Fix a setTimeout randomly canceled in cordova ionic application

We have an ionic1 app.
It reads QR codes via a custom plugin and once qr is read, it calls a setTimeout() that later calls a funcion that send the informatio to our API
Problem is that it randomly not work, it seems that sometime, after the App has been idle for a while, the setTimeout never fires and then the remote API is never called.
App it is using other timeouts for other operations so maybe there is some sort of conflict.
Problem it is easily reproducible just waiting a few minutes and reading a y kind of QR code.
