Data warehouse assignment -- 2

Hi I have been working with MSSQL for over 16 years. I am fully experienced as a developer and a DBA. Currently I am working at big financial organization in which I am responsible for the BI department. I have designed and the Developed the Organization’s Reporting Database which has been constructed with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. The database is being updated daily from the core system with txt or excel files via SSIS or with direct connection at mainframe’s DB2 and a numerous of KPIS are being daily updated during the ETL. For isolation reasons the KPIS are replicated to another DB (with transactional replication) which exploits the reports via SSRS to the consumers. Some KPIS are being replicated with merged (bidirectional) replication. Also, 10 Cubes in SSAS are being daily automatically processed and the end of the ETL. Several other reports are daily automatically produced and sent via email to the recipients. Finally I have designed and developed the bank’s crm DB which is published on the intranet. The DB holds full information about the customers (Customers,Addresses , Financial Data , Contacts , campaigns , etc) and covers 4 countries. To achieve this i have made partitions over the country code. The size of the Reporting DB, is about 4TB and consists of about 4.000 objects and the replicated KPI DB is 350GB. Best Regards mpalgeo

I am an experienced Business Intelligence Developer, with over 10 year experience ranging across Data Warehouse and Reporting. I have delivered multiple projects to numerous clients including FTSE100 based companies and SME in my previous employments. I would propose to deliver this with a couple of telephone design sessions (~ hour each) once you have provided your initial data and schema. This would allow me to ensure that I put together a design brief that will deliver what you require. The delivery of this design brief would be the first milestone. Once this is agreed I would the develop and deploy the solution according to the agreed design. Upon delivery I will have another voice session to take you through the implementation and also offer 4 hours of email support in the first month to maintain and guide you through any questions or issues you may have. What version of SQL Server and Office do you use? Would the environment be available for remote working or would you prefer it developed off-site and then deployed? Surely you would want it available through Excel rather than Visual Studio unless you actually mean the Developer client (SSMS). Will SSIS be available for building the warehouse from source data? Developing the Data Warehouse is the biggest part of the job. The complexity of the effort is dependent on how clean your source systems are. You did not mention how the data would be moved. Under this project I would create sql queries that loaded the dimension and fact tables. Later you will want to use SSIS to incrementally load the data warehouse. You will need to be more specific about the Visual Studio results requirement. If you mean be able to browse the cube in Visual Studio, that is part of phase 2, delivering the dw and cube
