I am already planning a migration from windows 7 to windows 8/10 and from office 2010 to office 2013 or office 365 for all my users (about 50), users are connected to active directory and exchange2010.
Microsoft has a tool that is called USMT to save userdata, but this tool does not save everything.
What i want to save:
- Users Mails / with colors / groups/ folders
- Users Notes / with colors / groups / folders / *shared notes*
- Users Calendar entrys / with color / permissions / shared calendars / group Calendars / calendar groups
- Users Contacts / Contact Groups / Shared contacts / Contact Colors
- All Settings
- All Mail Templates
- All Signatures
- Auto-Correction directory, Auto-Correction Settings, added words
- Save all other Office Application templates (word, excel, visio, powerpoint, access...)
- Save all other Office Application settings (word, excel, visio, powerpoint, access...)
- Save Desktop Items
Your Tasks:
- Create Document , how the backup is done exactly win7 office 2010
- Create Document , how to restore to win8/10 office 2013
- Create Document , how to restore to win8/10 office office 365
- If its not possible with USMT backup (as far as i know it is not) then you have to create a script to backup the rest. (VBS, Powershell, ......)
- If its not possible with USMT restore (as far as i know it is not) then you have to create a script to restore the rest. (VBS, Powershell,.....)
- If you should not be able to do it, you agree to cancel the project.
- After delivery of the Application/Scripts , i need to test them. As soon as there are no more bugs and everything works properly, i will release the payment and you can send me the documentation. There needs to be a proper documentation for our it infrastructure.
As I worked already the same scenario to migrate email Account to 2013 with the Following requirements and It was very accurate and all User email Account Migrate to 2013.\
Dear,
All those data can be migrate to windows 8. Some of them will go througt USMT and others through script (vbs either batch). About emails data it shouldn't be a problem once your are using exchange and it means all set up should be in the server. So, if you decide go to office 365, Microsoft has s few tools to help. If you want I can supply to you a cotation of office 365 subscription (running in Microsoft cloud) and a 30 days trial period for free.
Windows 8 - based on my experience in enterprise environment, I would like do not recommends a migration to windows 8 without a good reason. Windows 7 is much better rather than windows 8. It is strongly recommended wait for a new version of windows.
If you have any doubt, suggestion or comment, please let me know.
Best regards,
Thiago
