Thank you for interesting project posting, one more question: If I understand it correctly before FTP-uploading different files (from different distributors but in common folder) should be aggregated. Do you have developed aggregation rules? I mean: how to handle probable duplicate lines? Anyway accordind to your aggregation rules I will develope Windows service which will work in background and write log files so you will be able to review what and when was done, probable connection errors also will be loged. I am brand-new to Freelancer. I attempted to place this bid but got bumped off before I finished (just in case you get a duplicate bid from me). I would use perl for your described task. It has a rich pattern matching engine and is built for efficiently parsing text files and splitting them up into columns, summarizing, etc. I have been using perl since 1988. I would nail this project. I would use a DB file-derived database format for temporary database storage if the memory on the machine is insufficient for the size of the files. Ideally this would be designed to run on a linux/unix-based machine which lends itself to the "behind-the-scenes" functionality you describe. Questions: Is there a linux/unix machine (other than the windows 7 machine) available to do the parsing/aggregating? If so, the result could run on the unix-based box and be moved to the windows machine afterward. I would think an improved long-term solution would be incorporating all the data into a central database (i.e., MySQL), which is what you would essentially be constructing by combining all your log/data files together. I will do this project on the cheap because I am new and wish to get some completed bids under my belt. I would need a linux/unix machine to do this project for this amount, however. I could also design a MySQL database and automate the insertion of your data, but that is a completely different project. Thanks. Let me know... -Michael
