Concept Artist for Science Fiction Game

Icarus Miniatures is a new wargames company based in the UK. We plan to make the most cinematic and narrative wargames on the market. Our first game will be a science fiction skirmish system set roughly 500 years in the future. It will feature a variety of alien races and, for the most part, be high-sci-fi in visual style. We are looking for an artist or team of artists to produce a series of concept pieces to be used by sculptors in the creation of finely detailed 32mm wargames miniatures. The concepts we are looking for include, but are not limited to: Weapons/weapon boards Character Concepts – Detailed: To be used by sculptors to create miniatures. B&W and Colour Character Concepts – Rough: Used to give a feel for the particular factions in the game and explore characters that won’t be turned into miniatures. Vehicle Design – Including ground and air vehicles as well as space craft. Environmental Art – Helping shape the world’s the game will take place in. Scenes – Pieces with several characters interacting. Weapons and rough sketches would be at the lower end, and full environmental pieces and multi-character scenes at the top end. Applicants must include a link to relevant work with their application. Any applications without example work will not be considered. Successful candidates will be credited for any work they produce, both online and in any printed material we produce. The successful applicant(s) will work to a brief given by Icarus Miniatures. This brief will usually consist of a text document detailing the concept required, as well as providing narrative context. Most briefs will also include a selection of reference images to help the applicant(s) understand what is required of them. We wish to build a strong relationship with the successful applicant(s). We are looking for a long term partner who will be able to produce artwork when required over the next two years. In addition to payment, we will provide artists with free copies of any printed materials their work is featured in, as well as give them access to employee discount once we go into production.
