Adobe Photoshop Aplication - pixel letters for titles

I'll have each letter (handwritten, calligraphy) in a separate layer in Photoshop. I need an aplication which puts the layers with letters in a row? according to the typed text and create the title. I made this title puting the scanned letters together by hand: [[url removed, login to view]

One big job/project came and I have to work intensively on it until it finishes. I work in the ad agency which hired me to do it, that is the reason why I did not answer or make a decision on my project yet, sorry for this.

I thought about the project and discussed it with few designers about it. Here is what I think about it now. Please understand that I am not a programmer and I do not know what can and what can’t be done, I expect your suggestions.

What I was thinking is that I will have each letter in 3 versions, one above the other in one layer in a separate psd file. The files would be named by the letter/number/sign or their Unicode number. This will help for the spacing between the letters, specially for the italic letters with ascenders or descenders. The problem is that it gets heavy as a file, that’s why it may have to stay one psd file with all the letters in their layers…Or png files for each letter…?!?!? ? The script should place all the the letters one next to the other in one layer group, in the active psd document….here is how I see it:

I start your program/script, the window opens having the following fields

? - single line text field where text will be entered

? - letter spacing in pixels with the possibility to add or reduce the space between the letters

? - dpi and size selector, 72 dpi for web and 300dpi for print

? - autoscale percentage option(optional)

? - folder layer mode selection, the default mode of all the letters should be darker color mode. Here there is a problem- Photoshop versions before cs3 I think do not have that mode…any suggestions on that?

When the OK button is clicked on, the layer group, with all the letters in separate layers, should be created on top of all the existing layers and there should be one more layer on top of all of them, filled with white color, with layer transparency 75 with a hole for one row of letters. The layer on the bottom is supposed to be the? file that was active before running the script.?

That is how I see it, but I am opened for suggestions. What I see as important is to make it easy and obvious for the user the possibility of other versions of letters.

Now, I am not sure if this is possible, the window of the script should be on top of everything with an Ok button, and an explanation saying: “ctrl(command)-alt right clicking on the specific letter will select the layer containing that letter. Use the move tool to choose other versions of the letter, and when finished, click on OK button. When OK button is clicked on the program should delete all the unnecessary letters using the selection of the layer on top (the white one with the hole)
