We use a portfolio accounting system at our firm, and the software can export files into text type files. We use a program in excel for Value-at-Risk for each client. Each client has his/her own files and portfolio. We need somthing to where we can request a persons positions and the name of the company from the portfolio accounting system and automatically bring that in to excel for the value at risk program. Each client does have his/her own workbook and the data that comes over from the portfolio accounting side has to go in certian cells in a horizantal way. We can get the data from the accounting program wexported out to text file with no problam(even though we have no macro setup to put it into the special workbook in excel. A module or vb script would work but open to java or anything.
