Backup Program IN VB

I am looking for a software solution to backup files from one machine to another whether the second machine may be remote or indeed local.

I would like to see two pieces of software:

The client Software

This will allow the user to select the files to be uploaded. Create a schedule then compare the files to one previously uploaded and upload the necessary files.

The Server Software

This will be the piece of software the client Software connects to.

There does not have to be a second piece of software if i am told otherwise ...this is merely my understanding of how this will work.

I would like the app to look at the files on the server end and compare them to the latest backup scheduled and if the files are identical and havent been changed recently then it wont upload them .. I know we need to Implement some sort of compression but do not know enough so would need to be guided by the succesful bidder.

In the first instance i would like this software to handle only one client but i will quickly ask the succesful bidder to make it so it can upload from many clients.

My initial scenario is that i have 5 web servers and a backup server out of the 5 servers 3 are on the same network as the back up server and 2 are not. I would also like to run the client app on my remote worksation and backup to the remote server.

So is this many clients or as they all belong to me.....is it one client?

So this system must work on a lan aswell as the internet?

It must take into consideration firewalls and any other obsticle put in its way !

I will want to expand on this software in the future so the winning bidder must be willing to create an ongoing relationship

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
