Convert JQUERY script to standard JS/AJAX

We have a script that takes words on a webpage and converts certain ones into double underlined words. Currently, we have a script that does this using Jquery. We have a software app that calls this JS, Jquery causes many problems for us in IE. We will only accept a bid from someone with 10 or more positive (8+) feedback.
