Case Study The FIT Finance, Insurance & Taxation Company has decided to expand and open three new branch offices. One of these offices will serve the country area in the North-West, the second will be located at the university on the South-West part of the region, while the third will be located in a newly developed region in the South-East. So far FIT had conducted all its business at its main (and only) central office in the city. The company made the decision to expand into these new locations in order to capture the growing business these areas. FIT's Country Office will be located 200 km Northwest of the main City Office, the University Office will be located 15 km South-West of the City Office, and the third office will be 50 km South-East. FIT did initially consider setting-up microwave links to these new offices. However, due to the hilly nature of the region surrounding the city and in the country area, such microwave links were difficult to establish. A few years back FIT had purchased a mainframe and a centralized database system that contained all the relevant files belonging to FIT's clients. Due to the desire of the managers of the company to maintain all these files under central control and due to security reasons, FIT decided to continue the existing centralized approach and to provide 24-hour access to the database for these new offices. During the past five years FIT had experienced considerable growth, and currently it occupies all the floors of its 3 story building block. In this main City Office there are 90 terminals including the console attached to the mainframe, with approximately 900 inquiries per day. FIT also anticipates that there will be approximately 300 inquiries per day from the new University Office, which will have 12 terminals, approximately 100 inquiries per day from the new Country Office in the North-West, which will have 5 terminals, and about 150 inquiries per day from the new South-East office with 8 terminals. ## Deliverables (Minimum): 1.
