Alter Joomla Jmonitoring component to work with Joomla 3.x

I am using Joomla 2.5 on a number of sites and have been using Jmonitoring component to remotely monitor all sites from a master site. Jmonitoring consist of a master component which is installed on the master site, and a jmonitoring distant component which is installed on every slave site that you wish to monitor. Everything works well when master and distant are both J2.5.x sites When installing JmonitoringDistant on a Joomla 3.x site the installation goes well, but when trying to access the component on the Joomla 3.x site I initially get the following error: Fatal error: Call to undefined method JController::getInstance() in /home/jodp/public_html/zdemo/[login to view URL] on line 9 I need that error and any followon error solved, and are posting the issue here as I am sure other people have come across this before. jmonitoring is no longer a free component, and I am not interesting in moving to a commercial joomla extension. Hence this development Both components are attached.
