A Java based project of ours needs its imaging and OCR module reworked to be able to decipher some newly implemented CAPTCHA designs.
We are flexible as to how the coder goes about restoring OCR functionality to our program, whether it be a new stand alone module or a reworking of the existing broken module. We will be able to provide source code as needed as well as access to a machine that has the software up and running for testing purposes.
Our finished project will require:
1. A working OCR module that is able to take CAPTCHA images sent from our "workers", clean them, scan them, and output them properly to each "worker" that requested a scan.
2. A fully working integration of the new or reworked module before any funds are released.
A small sample of images in question can be found here([login to view URL]). Upon acceptance of a bid we will provide the coder with the full source of the images so that he/she may retrieve new images as they need them.
Of note regarding these CAPTCHA's...within these images are 2 words, one of which acts as the "Key" to the image, meaning only that one word needs to be submitted in order for the CAPTCHA to be passed. A clever programmer should be able to use this to their advantage. More information regarding the reCAPTCHA images can be found here([login to view URL]).
We are shooting for approximately a 75% pass rating. That would be 75% CAPTCHA's passed, not necessarily 75% accuracy on both words in each image. After gaining an understanding of reCAPTCHA this should make a bit more sense to you.
As far as a time-frame is concerned, we would like to be able to implement this new module within 4 to 6 weeks. A hasty resolution will ensure the coder receives a sufficient bonus as well as potentially similar work in the near future.
We thank you for your interest in working on our project and look forward to working with you.
