I'd like a customized version of the SoundManager2 360 player: <[login to view URL]>
(So the good news is the heavy lifting is already done!)
This player will be used and will operate just like the SoundManager2 360 player customization that [login to view URL] employs: <[login to view URL]>
(Which from a user perspective behaves like the one in the iTunes Store.)
This player will be used for small mp3s clips, inline, so 20px high max. Just like the SoundManager2 360 player, it would first look for HTML5 audio (so mp3 clips can play on iOS devices) then degrade gracefully to Flash 9, Flash8, no Flash.
This player will be a simple play/stop button that stops when another player on the page is activated. No pause button, no progress bar, no timer, no rewind, no fast forward. One button to rule them all.
In an effort to discourage the casual user from downloading the mp3, this player should disable or hide the right-click "save target as" function, just like the the SoundManager2 360 player does.
This player will be used on a Wordpress site, and should be as lightweight as possible.
Finally, I require a javascript file that allows the player to take over any and all <a href="[login to view URL]"></a> links on a page.
Questions I can think of...
Q: If you like the SoundManager2 360 player so much, why don't you use it?
A: It's play/pause instead of play/stop. And it's too big. I need something that's 20px high max. Like the [login to view URL] player.
Q: If you like the [login to view URL] player so much, why don't you just use it?
A: I don't know how to get it so I can modify it. Plus, I'd like my own.
Q: If you're using Wordpress, why don't you just use the WPaudio plugin?
A: It's got all that other crap I don't want, pause button, progress bar, timer, download link as a default. All that stuff blows my tables.
Q: You seem to know exactly what you want. Why don't you just do it?
A: I'm smart enough to know what I want, but too stupid to do it myself. Yay!
