Greetings. I'll write a well-structured application for exporting the necessary data to SQL. The application will consist of four modules - an unzipper, a parser, a mapper and a sql generator. I'll make the 'xml tag - table field' mapping easily customizable, in case the table structure or xml schema changes in the future. Depending on your needs, the scheduling mechanism can be made internal (in the application itself) or external (calls to the application from the operational system or another application).

periodic cron job runs every x number of minutes, invokes perl script to go through the downloads list you provide, fetch each .zip file, extract xml files, parse each of those for desired information and then prepare INSERT statements to join into a .sql text file which will be loadable into your db using your standard mysql command line tools. I have experience with all of this as well as related CPAN modules for handling zip and xml files plus extensive experience hand crafting custom SQL statements for mysql. Also lots of other experience with all things related to web automation.
