Browser plugin or Java Applet

I need to create a search engine for a CD, using Internet Explorer. I have done this using javascript and it works, but the javascript consists of many variables > 60000, and leads to very long loading time in win95 and 128MB PCs. I would like to find a way to reduce the loading time. If javascript can still be used and a 5mb .js can be loaded without problem, that is great. mainly, the problem is javascript cannot open files, so the entire index is stored as variables in the .js I am looking for a java applet or a IE plugin that will open an index file on the CD and return results based on the index file. Eg. the file will contain Apple:125,345,928,329,594 Orange:234,536,453,645,345 Where Apple and Orange are the search words entered by the user using a form on IE, and the numbers are the html files on the CD that should be returned to be displayed by the browser. user may also enter things like Orange and Apple, and the java applet or plugin should be able to look at the index file and return only the html files which contain both Orange and Apple. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. ## Platform all windows versions from win95 and up, IE5.01 and up.
