We need ajax paging for a table with many rows. The table will show 10 rows on the page. The bottom of the table should have a "<< prev 1 2 3 next >>" component at the bottom. Clicking "prev" or "next" should not cause a page refresh; neither should clicking a page number. Ajax should handle paging through data so that it is fast and without page refreshes. The catch is that the table has LOTS of rows. It has far too many rows to do a preloading of all data. Instead, the ajax technique should be simple and smart. On any page P, the ajax is responsible for async loading of pages P-1 and P+1. That's all. It should preload a configurable number of pages in each direction (one page in each direction in the example given), and that's all. The table should also support sorting by columns via ajax, but in a very simple way. No sorting needs to be done in javascript. When a user clicks on a column, an ajax request should be sent to the server requesting data sorted in the way specified by the user (based on the column selected). The server returns the data and the ajax updates the table. Note that the javascript itself is not doing any sorting. In effect, the ajax for sorting is doing NO PRELOADING. It just needs to update the table WITHOUT REFRESHING the page. The code to do this should be simple, as it is doing little more than making a new web request and then updating the html. We require this specific functionality because we have too much data for a full preload, but don't want to deal with the high number of server requests involved in a Rico-type solution. Please respond with a link to ajax you have worked on previously. Thanks.
