This is an advanced version of a standard BMI (body mass index) calculator. The idea here is to create an accurate and easy-to-use widget that will display a range of health-related information and possible dangers i.e. obesity / anorexia, together with a range of fitness goals. The basic equations can be taken from an example BMI calculator that is downloadable. However, these will need to be upgraded to include data on waist and clothes size. The results (via mathematical formula) will need to be adjusted for users wanting to bulk up (build muscle), tighten and tone, slim (moderate weight loss) and specific X weight loss. Do I need to use native LocalStorage with backbone or should I use a LocalStorage adapter to save it to a db? I am assuming that since there will be a demarcation between data storage and the front end model. it wont matter if I use Mysql or Mongodb for development.

Hi, Unless you have made up your mind on Backbone, I'd like to propose AngularJS. I have done both Backbone and now developing complex apps using Angular and i have to tell you that it's way better than Backbone. I'm building a Task Management suite using Angular and I can pretty do this project. If you wish to do it with jQuery only (it's possible), i can revise the bid. Let me know if you are interested.
