They may want to look up the specifications of a product, find the latest drivers to make the product work with a more recent version of their operating system, or find out handy tips about cleaning and maintaining it.
You have been hired by a major IT hardware seller (Hardwares-R-Us) in Australia to develop HIS web application. It is a web site that allows users to quickly find information about the products or services that the ‘Hardwares-R-Us’ might be selling. It is NOT a shopping cart; none of the products are sold online.
Hardwares-R-Us sells hardware from popular best-selling manufacturers such as Flamin’ Galah Hardware (FGH), KathNKim Hardware Makers (KKH), and Rocks Hardware (RH). To minimize the costs for the support department, most of the company’s
support system is web-based. With this site, users can browse the product catalog with the Product Locator to look for products and their specifications.
In addition to the Product Locator, the site also has a Downloads section. The users can quickly locate files related to their product. These download range from general files such as the warranty document for all FGH products to driver files for a specific product.
The third section of the site is a searchable list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). These questions are not categorized as the products and downloads are but they are searchable with a small search engine that supports Boolean logic. So in a nutshell, website has four main sections – Home, Products, Downloads, and FAQ page.
