Stress Analysis in a Pipe Connection

A pipe connection consisting of a flange with four prestressed bolts is shown in Figure 1. In this project, you will study how the stress state in the pipe and the bolts varies when it is subjected to an external bending moment. You are asked to draw two identical pipes and clamp them with 4 prestressed M24 bolts. After you construct the parts in COMSOL software, you will define boundary conditions as we described below and then apply the bending moment. Finally, you will analyze the stresses in each part and pressure between the flanges for both pretensioning and full external load
