We are a web design & development company ([login to view URL]) that does work for both for-profits and non-profits. We are looking for a PR/Marketing Consultant to help us with a small project to devise and test a (very focused) promotion strategy to reach out to non-profits more.
For a little background, we have an initiative called "Sites for Service" ([login to view URL]) where we build pro bono websites for small/start-up non-profits once a quarter (including free hosting for life). We would like to increase awareness of this program and also do more paid work with non-profits.
We want to help non-profits communicate better (not to mention be able to raise more money). We see a modern, efficient website as being a vehicle for both. It's has been our experience that non-profits struggle with complex creative projects (both due to cost and complexity), so we keep our projects intentionally small and focused, allowing organizations to increase the quality of their communication and story-telling, which are force-multipliers in enabling them to help more people.
As far as this project goes, we would like to craft a promotion strategy around reaching more non-profits who do great work. We get fired up about helping those who help others and we would like more of the work we do to go this direction.
Of course, we'd love this to be an ongoing effort, but for now, we just need to run a small project to test our assumptions. The ideal person will help us craft a tightly-focused (niche) strategy, generate a press release or two (or similar promotion media), and generally up our visibility to the clients we are trying to reach.
As such, it would really be beneficial if you know something about how non-profits work, what their needs are, and how to best communicate with them. Additionally, you should know something about technical/creative projects and be pretty web savvy.
The budget for this initial project is $500, with a timeline of about 2-3 weeks. Again, this is just a test-case, and we are hopeful that we can make this an ongoing effort. We want to help good causes communicate better and raise more money. We would love your help with it.
