Create linux scripts to extract digital receiver firmware file so it can be customized and then repacked

Need a tool to extract the content a of digital receiver firmware file for 6002 IRON-SAT receiver (attached) so it can be customized and then repacked with another script.

The attached file is a firmware file for a digital sat receiver. It has Linux operation system . The goal of the project is to reverse engineer the file's format and extract the file system from it to the disk. (so we can make any changes we need like changing some images e.t.c). Then we need another script to pack the files back to the binary. If there are any checksums they should be updated so that the file will be then suitable for upload to the device.
