Budget forecast needed for game for mobile phones / cell phones

We are a mobile/cell phone game company. We are looking for qualified programmers with experience in wireless development to assist us in the implementation of simple games for the JME/J2ME platform. The games are to be developed under MIDP2.0/CLDC1.1 specifications using our own game framework.

Right now we need a forecast on the development cost of the game “The alcohol test”.

The game consists of 3 small minigames, that is played in a row, and when the minigames is done, a score and a text / picture will be displayed, commenting the score.

The first game is a reaction game, where you have to push 1 button, at a specific time. The minigame will show a static background, a moving object and a simple hand-animation. The object will move vertically down the screen, and when the player pushes the button, the hand reached out and grabs after the object. When the hand grabs, the objects stops, and the game calculate how precise the player was.

The second game is also a reaction, where you have to push a button at a specific time. The minigame will show a static background, and a picture that’s is divided into 4-6 slices. These slices will begin to move towards each other, and the player has to push the button when they are aligned. When he pushes the button, the slices stops, and the game calculates how precise the player was.

The third game is not really a game, but more an “offline” test, that comes with different exercises. Each exercise will show a couple of static pictures or a simple animation, that illustrates what the user is to do. The player will then see a stop-watch, which the player can activate. When the player has activated the stopwatch, it will begin to count fractions, seconds and minutes, and when the player activates it again, it stops, and shows the time spend. The score is then calculated by comparing the time spend, with the optimal time for the type of exercise.

The game must support a 2 player mode that employs the network protocol implemented by our game framework hence making network play of 2 phones possible.

The game should support ‘single player mode’ 1 Player should hence be able to play the game on the phone.

The game has no AI.

The price should not involve ‘porting’ nor graphics development. Graphics will be supplied or ‘placeholder’ graphics used during development. Only the ‘in-game’ processes of the game are to be implemented. There is hence no demand for the implementation of ‘splash screen’ and ‘pre-game menus’.

We will supply our in-house game framework to aid the programmer in implementing the game. This framework must be used in order to meet our designs specifications. Our design specifications are defined by the framework itself and by the ‘game shell’ project setup that will also be supplied. We will also supply an implementation of the classic ‘Backgammon’ that can be referenced throughout the implementation if questions regarding the use of our game framework should arise.

The implementation should regard the Nokia 6600 as lowest denominator phone and this model is hence the ‘master target’ phone. The game master build should not extend 75 KB exclusive assets (graphics, text files etc.).

We demand that all source code and documentation is written in clear English.

If we choose to go with a bid, we will deliver the full specifications for the game and the development framework / technical documentation. The vendor will have the opportunity to survey this material, before the deal is made.
