Researchers are facing a problem to provide short-circuit protection in DC microgrids in the modern era of development of commercially-viable equipment which produces fast operation, coordination and continuous reliability. In this paper issues regarding short-circuit protection in low-voltage dc (LVDC) microgrids are analyzed, a methodology for short-circuit protection based on solid state circuit breakers (SSCB) that provide fault-current limiting (FCL) is evaluated.
