TITLE: Performance study of single cylinder C.I Parry engine by using the blends of Pongamia and Mahua Bio diesel. TEAM SIZE: 4 members. DURATION: February 2013 to May 2013. DESCRIPTION: The experiment were conducted on single cylinder water cooled four stroke parry diesel engine, by using diesel as base fuel .Four blends of 20%,40%,60% and 80% mahua with diesel and is similar to the pongamia blends also. The parameters used are brake power, total fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption, mechanical efficiency, thermal efficiency. Due to scarcity of traditional fuels, its over-dependence by nations, increasing emission of combustion generated pollutants and their increasing costs have made renewable energy sources more attractive. So to cope with these problems, alternative energy is said to be the best solution and hence lot of research is being carried out in this field. Biodiesel refers to vegetable oil or animal fat based long chain alkyl (methyl,propyl,ethyl)esters. It is an alternative to traditional diesel fuel , it is bio degradable ,renewable , nontoxic and essentially free of sulphur and anomatics .

During my career as an engineer, I have worked on such as projects (with different internationals companies like SEGULA, CAM, EADS…) which aim to optimize the design of thermic engines, like diesel engines or gas engines. I worked on maintenance of the ship’s engines too, most times, this projects worked on engines which had multiples cylinders, and I’m very interested by working on studying and the optimization of the functioning of one cylinder taking on consideration all aspect, mechanical design, thermal efficiency, fuel consumption (biofuel) using numerical simulation if needed. About the way I work, I’m very punctual, for that, I start by sending you a planning that describe the time that I will need to conduct the project. I also try to make my work very innovative, by using simulation ( matlab, Ansys, C/C++), 3D models ( CATIA, Pro Engineer, AutoCAD…) and smart approach (robust design, Axiomatic design, …).
