Anon visitors signup to node updates (using mailchimp intergration)

Investigation into providing solution for allowing visitors (anonymous) to 'subscribe' to pages to receive an notification email when the page has been updated.
An example would be signing up to a node for users who wish to be notified when the next stage of consultation is ready.
Requirements:
- use mailchimp to handle and maintain sending of bulk emails/unsubscribe etc
- a node could have checkbox or setting to allow a 'subscribe/notify' block to appear on full node display for anon users (expected to reside in sidebar)
- the fields captured would be email, firstname, lastname
- provide checkbox in edit stage of node, which only when checked would define a 'significant change' and the editor wishes to send out this update as a notification (and resetting when a new draft is being edited)
- emails to only be sent when checkbox status = true AND page is published in moderation
- not create drupal user accts when storing details
- must intergrate with workbench module
Considerations:
there is a module that looks similar to some(but not all) of the requirements. (see below) Mailchimp also this has robust opt in/out and controls signup preferences well.
