Build an online database

Build an online database that can be populated by employees and the data access and interrogated by clients, showing progress, with drill down capabilities, on demand reporting, graphs [url removed, login to view] be able to be added on to at any time when clients ask for a specific report.

We are an auditing company. We comb through paid history files and look for mistakes and anomalies, and if there is money to recover, we recover it and are paid a percentage.

Our clients have revenues of $100 Million and up. We start by obtaining a download of their paid history files from their ERP system. It contains all paid transaction to their suppliers over the last 3,4 or 5 years. We then interrogate this data and produce reports that flag suspicious items. We currently display this information on a spreadsheet. Claim #, date, supplier name, total amount (which can include multiple invoices where there was an error), and as we recover it, dates when that occurs. Ideally we want to capture each amount from each invoice, although when we process it during the audit we may lump similar transactions with one supplier together. The program should allow the auditor to input the data while they process the claim, as well as attach images of invoices, checks etc to the record.

The users of this information will be management of the audit company as well as clients. Clients will be able to get real-time information about the audit, being able to drill down to individual claims and see the paperwork, as well as sort the data as they see fit to determine patterns etc, either by supplier type, or date range, or invoice amount range etc. The ranges will be set by the client as they see fit. Additionally, the client should be able to see trends over time and compare them to the audit results of other company's, although not by name, and see how they perform to other organisations. All this information needs to be displayed graphically, and the graphics should be clickable and the details below it visible.

The auditor can enter information and keep it hidden from the client until such times as they feel it is ready to be viewed.

As a manager, I want to be able to see claims being worked on, as well as completed ones. I want to be able to sort through by amount, just like the client. I want to be able to enter percentages by client at different stages of amount recovered so I can see future revenues. Additionally, the auditors are commissioned and I want to see those amounts.

Basically, if we look at the data we capture, I need to be able to look at it in any way. I need to add fields to the database, ie:capture more information, say 'invoice date', 'processor name', or any other field that the client says they would like to see. Once I capture it, the options for looking at the data become endless.

I may want to look at some data as a subset of other data. Although clients will only be able to look at their own data, they may want to see their data as it compares to an average.

Ideally I would like to enter the entire database of paid history files, so that we can cut and dice that data to show # of transactions per month, revenue etc. We will have ell the client paid history when we begin to work with them, so we should be able to determine average transaction size over any period of time, time to pay (time from invoice date to payment date). Suppliers should be able to be categorized, and as such some clients will want to see their payments as they compare to other clients in a similar industry.
