My opinion...By code alone cant be accomplish (only if the a PWM can be supplied to the led and of course by changing the duty cycle of the PWM in real time as the code runs in order for the led to fade)...but an easier way, always my opinion, is to add some passive components in order to synchronize the flashing led with the fading led I can provide you with a schematic in order to built this! pm me if you are interested to talk about this!
