I currently have a piece of hardware which will only run with Win95/98 due to the fact the hardware requires a VxD to be loaded. However I need to be able to use the hardware on Win 2k/XP. Now as far as I know, it is not possible to load a VxD using Win 2K/XP.
The hardware is a device which plugs into the ISA slot on the motherboard and is controlled via commands send directly to the hardware IO port. I have tried to control the hardware without the VxD loaded, but it does not respond.
So if possible, I need to reverse engineer the old VxD which is around 7kb and use that info to create a device driver which will run on Win 2K / XP driver and allow me control the hardware. I know that Win 2K / XP does not allow direct port access like Win95 / 98 did, but I plan on using software from [login to view URL] to allow my app direct access to the IO port once the driver is running.
Please do not contact me unless you have a full understanding of what is required.
Hi! Can I look onto old VxD driver to estimate needed work and suggest ways to solve this task. I need driver binary and if you have any other available resources like .inf files or any corresponding documents and specs for hardware.
