1) purple people eaters have an enzyme that helps them to digest people meat. absence of this enzyme is caused by a recessive allele, and individuals with the condition have shortened life spans. a male purple people eater named rex has met his mate (named rita). even though they both eat people meat, the recessive condition runs in his family and seeks genetic counseling with his wife. the genetic counselor asks rex and rita if either of their parents were unable to digest people meat. why would she ask them that question? rex said that his mother and father could both eat people meat, but that his brother died of a young age due to the genetic disorder. rita said there was no history of being unable to eat people meat in her family. what was the genotype of rexs deceased brother? what genotype of rexs parents? do we know genotype of rex? why or why not? do we know genotype of rita? why or why not? would you encourage rex and rita to have a child? what do u think the chances are of their child having the fatal disease? 2) garbledraks can either have no fangs or four fangs (four fangs is dominant). garbledraks can either have stripes or no stripes (stripes is dominant). a male garbledrak that is heterozygous for fangs and for skin pattern decided to mate with a female garbledrak that is also heterozygous for fangs and skin pattern. garbledraks are known to produce large numbers of offspring-typica number is 50! set up a dihybrid cross for this couple. list all possible genotypes and the probability associated with having an offspring of each genotype. list all possible phenotypes and the probability associated with having an offspring of each phenotype. if these two garbledraks had 50 offspring, approximately how many of them would be expected to have 4 fangs but no stripes? which of mendels laws is/are associated with this kind of genetics problem? 3)Brown hair is a dominant trait for werewolves, with the recessive condition being black hair. a heterozygote female werewolf fell in love with a black haired male werewolf. if these two werewolves were to have a baby werewolf, what is the probability that it would be heterozygous? homozygous dominant? homozygous recessive? have brown hair? have black hair?
