For a long period of my life, I tenaciously pursued a medical career: I volunteered at health clinics in Tanzania and Kenya, I read books on neurology in my spare time, and I studied Biochemistry for three years during college. I was fascinated by the medical world, and I felt implored to explore its extensive diversities, from dental medicine to oncology and everywhere in between. Eventually, however, my 'interests' were eclipsed by my passions. I'd loved to write since I was a child and at a certain point in my academic career, I knew that I would never be happy doing anything else.
Over time, I arrived where I am at now. I am able to do what I love to do every day; I'm finally able to write for a living (for the most part, at least). But every great thing has a price, and my decision to construct a life as a writer required an unfortunate sacrifice. I was never able to pursue my fascination with medicine, not to the same extent as I had before. When I came across this job listing, however, I couldn't help but think of this Project as a unique opportunity to explore my curiosities while maintaining my passionate career. I realize that the length of this proposal may seem too long, but what that should illustrate is how excited I am about this project. I would be enlivened to cross paths with the medical world one more time.
My experience as a former student of biochemistry brings a scientific slant to the table that is rarely coupled with a well-developed writing style.
