---For the first week report cover this department:

This is a guest department and at first handling the VIP guests seems a daunting task. It has been explained to me that as the host, on behalf of casino, I will have to offer an array of comps, such as free rooms and meals at the casino, that are meant to entice high rollers to come and gamble. But a large part of a host's job is forging lasting relationships with the casino's most valuable guests and catering to each of their specific needs.

Training

Shadow VIP staff to learn systems and procedures they use

Practice interaction with real VIP customers from around the world

This week I was stationed at the Front Desk. The time spent was broken into two parts. Half the time at the front desk as an agent and the other half of the time as a lobby ambassador. As a front desk agent my initial training consisted of computer training on the “LMS” system. I was guided through this system by a Front Desk Manager who walked me through the software. I trained on it via shadowing for about a day. The following days as an agent I shadowed other agents and stepped in much of the time to assist in actually checking in guests.

The second half of my week I was a Lobby Ambassador. The lobby of the hotel is considered part of the front desk. I was trained by shadowing other lobby ambassadors then given shifts with other ambassadors in the lobby. The job consisted of guiding guests to where they need to be as it related to the front desk checking in, the bell desk, etc, as well as assisting guests to their destinations on property. Part of the training for this also included a tour of the property which I was taken on via the HR department with a group of new hires.

I will continue to be rotated between the two positions as part of the Front Desk section of my internship.
