Assignment brief You are required to develop a wiki area where you demonstrate a critical understanding: Are we communicating or broadcasting? What is the difference and what are the implications and/or risk associated here in our online activities? You may want to include in your discussion/argument on some of the following points, depending on your chosen topic: • Impact of technology • New (or latest) developments in the subject area; • New applications of the technologies and their impact on society; • Current issues or debates surrounding your topic. You should envisage your readers (audience) as being another student who knows something of the topic from their study of a previous module by way of awareness of the subject, but who have not researched the topic in detail. The first page should provide an overview of the topic and subsequent pages should explore the different aspects you feel are appropriate for your audience to read. You should also include a concluding page (a conclusion). You must include at least two references to chapters from the Reader (the recommended reading text) that you consider related to your topic, and at least three references to sources that you have found yourself that are appropriate and of value. You should also include at least one direct quotation (which may be from either the Reader or elsewhere). Use the numbering referencing system for all references and quotations and place each of the reference sources at the foot of each page – do not include a separate reference page. Your Wiki should include an introduction, a main part, which may have a number of individual pages and a conclusion. It should be clearly written, with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. It should also be written in a style, and at a technical level, appropriate for the intended audience You should write no more than 1500 words in total and you will lose marks if you write more than this. You may also be penalised if you write considerably less, because you might not have provided a detailed enough account.
