I posted this project a week or two ago and the developer is having some hard drive problems so I need someone to finish his work.
The project consists of creating a process that will allow my webpages to be exported to Excel or PDF. The catch is that I need the styles, formatting, graphics, etc. to look the same as it does online.
The developer started to write a client side (javascript) parser that would take my pages and parse the code into an excel/pdf friendly HTML format. Then it attempts to change the content headers to allow the user to open the file:
[login to view URL] = "application/ms-excel"
[login to view URL]("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=excelimage.xls")
I have attached a screenshot of one of the webpages and the current output when you click the Excel button.
As you can see the exported file maintains the fonts/colors from the original page, but the graphic doesn't come over and the formatting is really messed up and looks terrible. Plus the PDF part hasn't even been started.
I need this API to work with other pages that are similar in format to this one, just different fields being displayed and different tables.
This project is urgent and a $100 bonus will be added if this can be completed by Monday February 1st.
I have other ASP .NET projects that need to be worked on after this one so a job well done means lots more work!
I need you to be available by MSN/Google Talk and possibly VOIP.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Jeff
Hello,
Please check your PM for demo URL. We have gone through your requirements. We have already done this type of job for many clients. Can Immediately serve this job.
Thanks
I can definetely make the .pdf part of this job done very fast -- we've just finished a similar component. There will be no client-side interactions at all. Push a button -- get a file. The only drawback of this approach is a relatively higher server load.
I'm also interesting in delivering it by february, so would you please think fast.
If it uses ASP.NET then we could implement the excel export parts in easier way, especially whenever you decide it will be processed on client side part. For the PDF part you could use several PDF licensed control such as ABCPDF or if you need an open source one you could use iTextSharp as well. Which one you prefer?

I had developed atleast 3000 reports that are formatted to excel and pdf formats. Our reports are initially designed in HTML. The caveat is the excel formatting. Its the cellspacing and images that get misplaced. u really need a good developer to do this. I am based in CA and can demo the functionality of experting html to excel and pdf also. there is also a tool that generated jpg from the html files.
