I need to have a COM Object or some Active X component created to finish up my project ok here is my sitiuation I have a point of sale system that I have built that works over the internet using vb.net / MS SQL I am trying to finish it up and the only thing I really have left is the receipt printer after a sale is made I have a button that saves the receipt in SQL as a record with all the items purchased the problem is that when a button is clicked on the screen I need to have it trigger the receipt printer to print out a copy of the receipt / kick out the cash drawer and so on so far with registry entry changes on the local machine and with the help of a batch file I have it set up so I can click a link (on the receipt page hosted on the server) from the local machine which triggers a bat file that prints txt files that are on the local machine and kicks out the drawer and cuts the paper the only problem I have been having now is how can I get the items purchased to the printer some options that I have thought of so far are 1. make the server save a txt file to the local machine with the items purchased and have the bat file print that out also or 2. send which items were purchased as variables to the batch file with option 1 I can't find a way to save the txt file to the local machine without human interaction or with out prompts coming up and with option 2 the limitations on how long a variable for a bat file look like it might be a problem because I need to have it dynamically change the number of lines that are used ------------------------------------------------------------------------ So getting to the Question what would be the best way to get a string like Order # 17845 Stuff................................$4.95 More Stuff......................$16.95 to my receipt printer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really like the idea of the two ways above if I could just work around the problems then it would work Please feel free to contact me with any questions

I can make an activeX control for you that sends EscPOS commands to the printer for printing receipts, cutting, and printing barcodes on labels. It also can open cash drawers (if your printer allows) and display messages on PD2000/3000 pole displays, if you can cascade the hardware in one serial port. I have six years experience in POS software.

I may be missing something... Basically all you need for your system to work is to write a text file that the bat file can print out, correct? That is very easy and requires no interaction. One very simple sub right before or after it writes to the DB is all you need. I can get this written for you in a very short time. --Tom

Option one: If it is only a maater of writing a .txt file to the system, it can be done using either c, c++ VB, PHP or java. this would cost you the above amount. and time. We can save comma or any delimiter separated txt file. option two: If you can specify the DB fields and access / connection params for the database, we can create a component that can be triggered off by calling the print(OrderID) function / method after committing the data to the DB. The component shall then read the DB for the data of the given order and print the data to the printer. Charges 200. duration 15 days. Option three: May be I dont understand but what is stopping you from displaying a confirm order screen with all the required data and redirecting the same to the printer. (FOC Suggestion. Just send an acknowledgment if the idea works).
