Contest Brief

UPDATED as of APRIL 9!

We were not satisfied with the previous results. We are offering a little more money ($215) in hopes for a better design. We were having an issue with people not listening to our advice. If you want to win, please listen to our advice. Individuals who listen the most will have a better chance of winning. Individuals who do not listen will no longer be considered. We will rate with more strictness.

LOGO RULES:

We are only looking for a PLANET (Earth).

1. The logo MUST have a stand. See the attached image "IMG-STAND" for an example. The stand does NOT have to look like a G, but if you can pull it off, please do so carefully. This signifies our historical focus.
2. 1/2 of the PLANET must include RANDOM geospatial territory (NOT country/state territory). You can simply draw this. See attached image "IMG-TERRITORY" for example. This can be different colors (red, purple, yellow, green, etc.) but don't go crazy. This is supposed to simulate map data.
3. 1/2 of the PLANET must include a wire framework. See attached image "IMG-WIRE" for example. This can be only a wireframe, or it can be an overlay addition to the actual 1/2 of the planet. This is basically supposed to exhibit intelligence networking.
4. BE UNIQUE. BE CREATIVE. We will no longer accept low-quality logo designs or fast mock-ups. Take your time and give us something nice.
5. Absolute WINNERS will be able to make 1/2 of the logo look like an old rustic map (see "IMG-HISTORICAL") and the other 1/2 look like a digital/futuristic map (see "IMG-FUTURISTIC"). Be bold and be a winner!

We no longer require the PUZZLE effect (like a traditional wiki logo), but if you want to include that in your design, that is up to you. We will tell you if we like it or not. We will be more communicative now.

WARNING!!!!

1. Do NOT use the images we've attached below (IMG-xxxx) in your logo design. We require all artists to be ORIGINAL and SELF MADE.
2. Do NOT use images acquired online such as Google Images.
3. We will VERIFY the integrity of your design through the file transfer. If we determine that you did not create the design, we will NOT award you the money.

“Slavik was a unique experience. I was about to give up on Freelancer.com until Slavik came along to save the day. Slavik provided unique concepts and adapted to my suggestions immediately. I was even able to get corrections after awarding him. If this person participates in your contest, be aware, you probably already have a winner!”

Just a friendly reminder to the competitive contestants: When forming your map or globe, geospatial data is important. Google "geospatial data" or "ArcGIS data" to get an understanding of how that looks. Usually a bunch of transparent dots, sometimes terrain is colored differently, sometimes it's a "heatmap". Play around with it. Only a few days left. I have a couple favorites already, though, so start paying attention to the top contestants.

Hello, sir, please check #508 and #509 I added more dots, on the right hemisphere with 50% transparency, on the left with 70% (50% doesn't work good). Overlapped dots look nice ( You were right ), i had to scale the logo to show it properly because freelancer.com resizes images. Thanks

    All,

Some of you are on the right track and I have left you feedback for improvement. I'm liking what I see. Please do not use 3D stands, it takes too much attention away from the globe itself.

Also, there are a couple designers who are copying images off of Google Images. This is unacceptable. Please ensure your content is original and does not contain copyright information. When we select a winner, if the contents of the logo does not contain original artwork (layers), we have the right to award someone else. Please be aware of this. Cheating is not tolerated on Freelancer.com

    Hello, sir
Do you need the planet like 2 styles divided or one style symbol?

      Ramy,

We would like a planet that is divided with 2 different styles.

      1. One half of the planet should be a digital (computerized or futuristic) map.

      2. The other half of the planet should be a historical (aged or old) map.

      3. One or both halves must have something to indicate data on a map, such as territorial borders, blotches (different size dots), or different color borders (look at the IMG-TERRAIN image which shows battle territories).

Please let me know if this is still unclear. I'm trying to make it sound simple...

Here's a basic guide for how to create the globe:

    1. Create a circle for the globe
    2. Cut it in half
    3. 1 half should be an old / ancient / rustic MAP of something, or half of the planet
    4. 1 half should be a futuristic / digital / computerized MAP of something, or half of the planet
    5. Enter in random territories, or blotches/different size dots, heat map, territory borders, or something to indicate DATA is used. You can do this on ONE or BOTH maps/planet halves.
    6. Use a stand for the globe. Preference if it looks like a G, but it's not required to win.

That's the basics. We expect everyone to come up with their own version. Please keep an eye out for our ratings. Those we rate high are on the right path.

Please look at the new images I have uploaded in the description page. This will help influence your next logo.

    To all artists,

Only 3 more days until I make my decision. I am still receiving messages from people who are waiting until the last day to submit logos, so be aware: you might be the best right now, but someone could still steal this competition from you on the last day. Pay attention to what I like, and to my suggestions.

Some followed my advice well. Some did not follow my advice at all.

Logo #379 has the best color combo.
Logo #272 has the best modern design.
Logo #100 has the best simple design.

Take this knowledge and make a winner! Good luck.

With the more professional logos dominating this contest, I will start rejecting the rest of the logos so that the artists can withdraw them and work on other projects.

5 days remain. I would still like to see something a bit different, but am prepared to select a winner when the 5 days are close. Good luck

1 week remains. However, I may select a winner at an earlier date. There are a few people who are participating, but still have not submitted their work. Please be aware that I may end this contest early, so if you have logos you want me to see... submit them now.

Take this advice to remain competitive:

    1. Follow my suggestions. I will tell you specifically what I want to see. By listening, you have a better chance of winning than those who don't listen.

    2. Use the puzzle format in your logo design. The puzzle should reflect the actual terrain of a map, and not the ocean.

    3. Pan the planet so that America (North America/USA, South America) are visible. I do not want to see Africa/Europe/Asia.

    4. Please make the planet 3D. I want to see the shadows that make a sphere.

    5. It's better to use only 2 colors. Sky Blue and Silver are good. Silver is a great base color. You can try to mix it up with Silver and another color. Silver and Forest Green might be good as well.

All: You are doing great. I am blown away by the response, and hope it can keep coming. I think a handful of you are right on target; some have even inspired me to rethink what kind of logo I should select.

RATINGS: I have rated every logo based on my personal taste. Whether or not you may have followed my directions is irrelevant, sometime's you just have to think big and be bold with your creativity to win.

Individuals with 4-5 stars will start receiving comments to specifically tailor their next logo input. I have about 10-12 days to wrap this up, but should select a winner soon. Please follow my suggestions thoughtfully.

Quality and simplicity are both very important. I especially love the creativity some of you had with blending G and I, G and W into the planet. This is something I hadn't expected, but like. Please look out for my individual suggestions.

    Good luck.
