Contest Brief

We are Audioscenic, www.audioscenic.com, we specialize in adaptive 3D audio reproduction technology. By tracking the position of listeners and projecting personalized sound to their ears, we are able to deliver highly immersive 3D audio experiences.

Explanatory video of the technology (specifically around the 1:05 mark):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfTA4IWdK6I

We are currently looking for a 25 second animation showcasing the main principle of operation of our technology. The animation should show:

- Listener in a living room with a soundbar positioned on a TV table in front of him. Soundbar should be rectangular, black with 5 grey drivers (simplistic version of http://audioscenic.com/assets/images/aschuster.jpg) and listener and room should be white, with some shades of gray, so that the soundbar stands out.
- The soundbar will project two beams of sound to the listeners ears. The beams must be distinctive from the environment with semi-transparent colors. During the animations the beams will follow the listeners ears position as the user translate from side to side. The beams will have a certain animation to simulate propagation of sound waves.
-The design must be sleek, sexy and professional. It must be simple to understand and minimalistic. The listener does not have to be modelled very accurately. The entire graphical style should be representative rather than realistic.
-The 3D environment should be viewed from a third angle isometric perspective.

The animation could be divided in the following actions:

-0-5: Soundbar and listener are static in the room. The listener is at the centre of the room.
-5-10: Soundbar turns ON and beams emerge and are projected to the listener’s ears.
-10-20: Listener moves left and right, with the beams following him.
-20-25: The listener returns to the static start position and the beams are still turned on.

Examples of the style we are looking for can be seen:

-https://www.amazon.co.uk/amazon-echo-studio-high-fidelity-smart-speaker-with-3d-audio-and-alexa/dp/B07NQCKJSH (The next dimension in audio section)
-https://www.apple.com/uk/homepod/ (Section: Knows how to work a room. Automatically.)

The animation can be created with any software. As well as the completed animation, we will require project files to be submitted to us, along with a background still of the animation.

The animation should be rendered as 4K and provided as .mp4.

Audioscenic will own the copyright of the winning submission.

We need the job done by 27/02. The winning applicant may be contacted for further work.

“Zane did an excellent job with modelling the scene, whilst also paying careful attention to the project brief requirements. He showed genuine interest and professionalism, and even went further by making additional design decisions with attention to detail that brought the whole scene together nicely - this made him stand out above the other entries in this contest. He also performed any necessary changes in a professional and timely manner! Overall a pleasure to work with and will definitely hire again in the future! A recommended freelancer to all!”

Hi Gabor! We cannot provide a soundbar model but you can use our image as reference (http://audioscenic.com/assets/images/aschuster.jpg) - please note that the soundbar itself does not have to be accurately modelled (we have a variety of shapes and sizes), a rectangular shape with drivers should suffice - the emphases is on the beamforming and steering technology not the cabinet itself. Many thanks!

Hi there! Size is relative in this context, it does not matter - a rough rectangular shape should do. We do not require an accurate model of the soundbar - we have a variety of shapes and sizes.

Hi, would any part of the soundbar itself move or rotate for the beams to follow the listener?

Hi there! No, the soundbar remains static - we use sophisticated signal processing to steer the sound beams. Thanks!
