Contest Brief

We are looking to have an Android App developed for electricity meter reading.
This is a private app to be used by our staff and NOT for google play

The app needs to be able to scan 1D Meter barcodes (CODE128) before allowing a value entry to be typed.

The app also needs to be able to email a pdf copy of the meter reads when complete. 1 report for all meters read per building.

The report should state:
- Building Name (obtained via imported file)
- Meter ID
- Previous reading
- Current Reading
- Date

The app will need to keep track of what the previous amount was also, to be able to report previous reading

Also new buildings need to be able to be added or edited via XLS or CSV upload
Fields Like

- Meter ID
- Location
- Note

Please see the attached PDF for more information and a sample screen overview.
Particular attention should be paid to the design and flow of the app, we expect nice clean graphics and responsive design.

Please note the barcode scanner SHOULD NOT be camera based. It should be hardware based. We will be using a device similar to the one in the below link. I believe this uses a keyboard input to "type" barcode data.

http://www.idatachina.com/index.php?s=/en/Product/pro/id/34.html

Also the screen size of our devices is 4.7" so the app should be built with this screen dimension in mind. The version of Android on our devices is 5.1

Further possibilities exist for other similar apps for talented designers.

Hi there, thanks for your entry. It looks amazing, however you do understand we need a functional application, not just graphics?

Developing the entire app for the purposes of the contest is a bit of a stretch. I will develop few features as mentioned as a proof of concept. If you like it, I can work further

Q1 . Do you have the SDK for the Android device, as the RFID scanner is customised to this device?

We will be printing the barcodes for the meters so we have the ability to make any type of barcode. But for simplicity we will likely use a 1D barcode such as a simple CODE 128 barcode, with a random unique string for each barcode eg) EM00001, EM00002 etc
