Contest Brief

We have 4 different themed 24-page coloring books to produce (Zoo, Beach, American Southwest, and Aquarium) -- some pages are done, we need help completing the rest. The budget is $15 per page -- for the contest, please choose any 5 slides from the "zoo pages needed" pdf. You can take creative license, the slides are for inspiration.

If you don't win but we like your pages, we will purchase the pages we like for $15 per page.

How the process works best:

1. Take a photo mock up creative brief slide provided. Isolate different areas and features (body parts for animals) and fill in different features with different hand-drawn patterns.

Tip --there are several zentangle online references for different pattern inspiration. One link is here: http://gocraftsomething.blogspot.com/2014/02/zentangle-pattern-sheets.html

2. Finished product: We will need to create both an 8.5 x 11" portrait AND landscape version, in grayscale. If you work with an 11" x 11" canvas and the elements are layered, we will be able to modify your illustration for both formats later.

3. For the contest, we are going to focus on our ZOO ANIMALS book. While you may choose any 5 slides, please try to show a variation, with some being simpler, some being more complex. (Please review attachments).

We have uploaded two working files for reference. Please note, for more involved foreground and background works, we will want the elements on different layers.

No, it simply meant that if you focus on something else and it's great, that someone hasn't done yet, it creates more opportunity for the contestants.

I have had the contest extended by 3 days. Please keep the great work coming. Note to all contributors -- I would recommend picking some of the other animals that haven't been created yet -- we might purchase quite a few but don't necessarily need duplicates of a particular animal that's already got a high rating from me above.

would you like these done in illustrator or photoshop with layers left then so you can work on them or would you like to see us do a few sample pages in either file type first along the direction of your brief

For entering the contest, it's fine to post flattened images or the main subject without additional layered elements. If you are able, the end deliverable would certainly be best as a layered file so that we can edit / rearrange elements.

Yup Thanks tasdesign but the link and drawing he has given is enough for creating amazing artwork. Do it in Illustrator. All the best

Hi, I am interested in entering this contest and I am confident that I can gives you a few pages you will enjoy. However, I am not able to pit them into a pdf format for you. If there is some way that I am able to just give you the drawing portion that would be ideal.

If you are confident and can provide the drawings some other way, I would recommend creating each of the elements separately, and we could layer them in photoshop or illustrator if we like them.

I went through the pdf you uploaded and the art there is amazing. I can safely say that there's almost 0 chance that you'll get quality art like that on FIVE different pages for only 75$ total. From what I saw, those pages are worth at least 200$ EACH. I'll be happy to participate if the prize money was at least somewhat reasonable

I respect your input, and everyone has a budget they feel comfortable with. My budget constraints are such that, $15 per page is what we have allotted for this project, and is what we paid for each of the pages on the pdf you referenced. Best of luck.
