Hello, dear artist,

I need an iconic, simple and beautiful image to convey the idea that all humans are "in the same boat" together in this world.

"In the same boat" means, essentially, that all humans, and even more broadly, all beings, including animals and plants, are joined together by the same existential challenges, the same existential calamities: Having to die; wanting to be loved; struggling to survive, trying to make sense of and find meaning in our lives...

In today's world, which is so much marked by division, I want this image that I'm asking you to create to be so beautiful and so powerful and so universally appealing, across countries and continents, that it will remind people everywhere that we are all more alike than different.

In terms of the design, I think that its elements might invoke the following ideas and notions: a boat, people together, our world/planet/earth, adversity (think of stormy waves, for instance). I am open to ideas different from this, too, though.

I'm looking for something that is so simple and so elegant that it can be reproduced in many different media: bumper stickers, objects made from clay or plastic, a necklace, a bracelet, etc. The image needs to be so clear that it is recognizable at a glance, in a fraction of a second.

The goal is to create something so beautiful, so simple and so compelling that it has the potential to spark a worldwide movement, of people who want to conduct themselves based on the realization that we are all "in the same boat," convinced that then this world will be a much better place.

Your design will connect all these likeminded people.

I'm looking forward to what you will come up with.

In terms of the specs, I will need an Adobe Illustrator vector file.

    I.e., err on the side of very simple, flat designs, without any gradients, and assume that a design with colors will also have to work in a white on black version.

    It would be great to have some element in the design conveying that the people inside the boat are in a precarious, dangerous situation. This is no pleasure cruise. It's about working together to get out of a difficult situation.

      I do like the idea of using a paper boat because it conveys the frailty of the situation. But it needs to convey the idea of humanity / the planet being inside that paper boat, together.

      This does look unique and beautiful. I also like the abstract and stylized approach. If possible, please see if you can make it look even more like an icon or logo and less like a painting, i.e., make it even more abstract. Also, please try to fit it all inside a squared area (I'm not saying to use a square but just to constrain the dimensions to one).

    Just some general comments: I really like the versions that convey that this is about all humans being united in a difficult situation in a small boat. I also like those versions that take a stylized, simple and more abstract approach as opposed to those that look like children's drawings. Lastly, please avoid anything that looks like a logo for a company selling luxury yachts. It's not what this is for. The goal is for people to sense their common humanity when they see the image. A sense of being connected, of being in this world together.
