Contest Brief

We have a contract for providing compelling and innovative visual designs of tablemats to a reputed hotel in Allahabad (India). The ideal tablemat design will fit well with the overall theme of their restaurant, upholstery and curtains. The design may reflect on the rich cultural heritage of the city (Allahabad, India). Photos of the restaurant and current tablemat are attached for your reference.

Update: I got a chance to discuss the entries with my client (Kanha Shyam, Allahabad http://www.hotelkanhashyam.com/). As I mentioned, they are interested in a design for their multicuisine restaurant. The Patio. Their restaurant is based on Victorian architecture and its entrance via the hotel lobby has Indian style. While the restaurant is multicuisine, Director of the hotel wants to promote tea/coffee and make it a buzzing place throughout the day. The ideal tablemat, according to her, would incorporate all these diverse needs. They have provided us two images (Allahabad Bridge.jpg, Allahabad Fort.jpg copyright: Nishi Creations), attached with the design brief. The client wants a design that merges either of the images with Victorian and Indian design elements. As you will see in the image, one of them has a view of New Yamuna Bridge, Allahabad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Yamuna_Bridge,_Allahabad) and the other is a view of the Allahabad Fort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allahabad_Fort)

As requested, I am doubling the original budget for this competition

unfortunately, this contract is only for supply of 25 tablemats. And we can afford to pay only the min fee for design. But, the good part is if we impress the client, he might give us a bigger chunk of interior decor and in that case we will naturally incline to work with the winning designer.
