Contest Brief

I&#039;m looking for a designer to create a logo for an enduring environmental project - to collect and reuse plastic waste from coastal and island communities in Sabah, Malaysia.

The project relies on mobilising YOUNG MALAYSIAN people (teenagers-to mid-20s), in this region, to act and engage. The brand logo concept has to clearly take that cultural context and target audience into account. A typical 'corporate' logo would not fit this. Key applications will be t-shirts, stickers, caps, flags, and wall posters.

Details are in the attached pic file. I should add that &quot;Pahlawan&#039; means &#039;hero&#039; or &#039;warrior&#039; in Malay and can be applied to females and males. Please have a conceptual explanation available along with any designs.

I hope you will find this challenge interesting. The winning logo will be part of an effort to bring positive change to many communities and to the ocean environment. If we get it right, the logo will make a real difference.

Hi All, Here is the evaluation criteria that will be used once the event closes:
Basics: text is correctly spelt and blue core palette
1. Iconic - Clear and easy to identify
2. “Heroic” appeal to youth
3. Localised - linked to Malaysia/Sabah islands/coastal communities

Thank you for the submissions so far. Many would make very reasonable corporate logos. However, per the specification, this project is not 'corporate'. It needs to engage a particular target audience, in a particular place. Our target logo would clearly reflect those needs. Thanks again!

Hi All. Quite a few typos of both "Pahlawan" and "Plastik" (it's a 'k' not a 'c'). As the word length might impact your design, please pay attention to the text spelling. Thanks

A little feedback on a particular design motif, the 'back-to-back double P' (i.e. 9P). Some feel, in this case, it creates a slightly uncomfortable image. Thank you.

  It is an option we can consider. Thanks for the question. The 'pahlawan' characteristics would need to appeal to the target audience, of course, and be simple enough to act as a logo/brand icon.
