Contest Brief
Hi from the SimpleSite UX team!
SimpleSite is an online website builder that supports thousands of users every day. To further support them, we are looking into the possibilities of having a mascot helping and instructing users when creating their websites. At this point we are aiming to user-test different animal mascots to see how our users respond to the general concept of having a guiding mascot. For this purpose, we would like to have a mascot illustrated, in three different poses, that can represent the essentials of the following guidelines:
1. The mascot must be an animal – preferably in full figure.
2. The animal should have some association with "building" a website or being a "guide". A beaver, a falcon or an eagle would be great, but we're open to other suggestions as well. You only need to design ONE animal, in the following three poses:
Pose 1: Guiding the user (e.g. pointing into the air)
Pose 2: Encouraging the user (e.g. cheering)
Pose 3: Celebrating a user’s success (e.g. clapping)
It is important that the mascot looks inviting and friendly, but not childish, as the target group mainly consists of business owners. Aim for something you’d want to high-five, but not hug! In addition to this, it is also important that the character looks rather unisex. Meaning that it should not appear obvious that it is either a girl or a boy. The mascot is currently named Alex.
The context of the mascot is that it is supporting the user who is building a website, and it is up to you, how to show, or not show, that. The context of building could be clothed like a constructor, having a tool as a prop etc. Something that underlines building in a general sense. But this is not a requirement.
To sum it up: We would like an illustration of an animal mascot (full figure) that is somehow associated with being guided to build a website. It should look unisex and friendly, yet professional and appealing to adults.
We look forward to seeing your great work!
Best regards,
