Contest Brief

We need someone to design a logo for the name: Mrüna.
Use your creativity and judgement to design one that is sleek, simple, and professional.

COMPANY BACKGROUND
---------------------------------------------
Mrüna is a consulting and distribution company specializing in the sale of services and products contributing to urban resilence.

In fact, Mrüna is the Arabic word for resilience, and the company is currently focused on urban resilience in the Middle Eastern market, with an eye to expand globally.

(To better understand urban resilience, make a quick google search of: "urban reslience", or "resilient city planning". I recommend checking the website: 100 Resilient Cities. I have included their definition in the bottom of this description. There is a big element of environmental sustainability, but it's also more than that. Look online, pictures and videos are worth a thousand words.)

Urban Resilience Definition
-----------------------------------------------

Urban resilience is the capacity of individuals, communities, institutions, businesses, and systems within a city to survive, adapt, and grow no matter what kinds of chronic stresses and acute shocks they experience.

CHRONIC STRESSES weaken the fabric of a city on a day-to-day or cyclical basis.
Examples include: high unemployment, inefficient public transportation systems, endemic violence, and chronic food and water shortages.

ACUTE SHOCKS are sudden, sharp events that threaten a city.
Examples include: earthquakes, floods, disease outbreaks, and terrorist attacks.

Resilient cities demonstrate seven qualities that allow them to withstand, respond to, and adapt more readily to shocks and stresses.

Reflective
using past experience to inform future decisions

Resourceful
recognizing alternative ways to use resources

Robust
well-conceived, constructed, and managed systems

Redundant
spare capacity purposively created to accommodate disruption

Flexible
willingness and ability to adopt alternative strategies in response to changing circumstances

Inclusive
prioritize broad consultation to create a sense of shared ownership in decision making

Integrated
bring together a range of distinct systems and institutions

Employer Feedback

“We held a logo contest for our company's new logo, and Marc B. knocked it out of the park with his first entry, out of a total of 2,000 other entries! He was a pleasure to work with, quick to respond, and worked tirelessly to customize the typeface under a tight deadline. And to top it off, he's modest, very friendly, and an excellent communicator. His English is perfect, and his manner professional. We would definitely work with him again. What are you doing still reading this review? Hire him now! ”

Hah, Dimitrije, I like your analysis. We chose it because it fit the notion of Urban Resiliency best, without restricting itself to themes of buildings and towers. It's an abstract and broad subject, so it was a very difficult choice to make. Thank you again for all your effort and input!

Heh, giving 5 star rating to a logo that uses free clip art ?(https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/skyscrapers-with-illuminated-windows_789155.htm). The saying "in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king" is so true in the context:) Your influenced opinion about a visual found on the internet about urban resilience means nothing to a real designer. Originality and quality are such used therms nowadays that they ended up being cliches, the truth is, most of them can't handle that. What I've provided in this "contest" was miles away from everything else, but it was a proven waste of time...Good luck with your project;)

@Deceneu, thanks for the tip! We were actually worried about free clip art, but we're not really sure how to check for it. I guess Google image search would be the best bet? Your design came up as a very close second place (the star ratings kept changing, so not an accurate indicator of what we liked best). Your design was gorgeous, and to our novice eyes, looked the most original. Again, it was a very difficult choice, and a shame that we couldn't pick more than one.

Interesting logo.. Hmm especially like solomark, internet is full with so many "dot network-based" logos made in smart way or not. This one is like judgment day, network grid collapsed after nuclear war :))

Hello all, thank you for all your efforts so far. To help you with your designs, here is a final summary of our thoughts. Good luck!

    Our clientele:
    - Governments
    - Non-Government Organizations (NGOs)
    - Real Estate Development Companies
    - Medium-sized businesses

    We prefer:
    - Sleek, professional text suitable in a corporate and consulting environment.
    - Minimal color.
    - Small, abstract images; minimal interference with the text.

The following motifs seem attractive to us:
    - Networks
    - Interlacing patterns
    - Line and dot designs
    - SUBTLE skylines

    We do NOT like:
    - Logos emphasizing the letter M
    - Cliched images like leaves, arrows, large buildings, houses, etc.
    - Large buildings, it makes us look like a construction company or property
    developer.
    - Difficult to read text.
    - Loud colors, flashy designs.
