Agriculture Pre-Feasibility Study

I work with an organisation that has 500 registered farmers, who collectively hold approximately 260 000ha of arable land and approximately 15 000ha of grazing and game reserves in Zimbabwe. The main activities undertaken by the members include the main local and regional staple foodstuffs but excluding tobacco. The most commonly undertaken projects include inter alia; maize and soya beans (for both stock feeds and food reserve), varieties of legumes, horticulture, livestock, dairy, citrus, bee keeping, forestry, poultry, piggery and fisheries including crocodile farming. Currently, largely due to capital and technical constraints, the farmers are engaged in sub optimal farming activities, leaving significant scope for operational improvement, increased efficiency and increased yields. Fields visits conducted established that an in-depth feasibilty study needs to be undertaken to develop a comprehensive solution on how best the farmers can be trained technically, capitalised and required support structures be developed to achieve optimum productivity. We need a pre-feasibility study done to apply for funding for a full scale feasibility study.
