Project Description:

I run a property portal website based on a Windows 2000 Server, ASP (VBscript) programming and SQL Server 2000. Until today I have done all hosting, programming and data base design myself.
I want to have this upgraded to modern standards and have the programming streamlined for best performance.
The set up of the project is in fact quite simple and uses the next features:
- search engine for houses based on location, price, number of bedrooms etc.
- pictures have to be automatically downloaded and resized from other web servers
- read XML files and insert data in the database
- create files (e.g. XML files for export)
The database and programming all exist (project runs for over 10 years).
VERY IMPORTANT is PERFORMANCE. The database and site attract a lot of visitors, most of them coming on peak times, these high visitor numbers cause substantial loads on both database and web server. The project should be able to support a high number of data, e.g. 1 million property for sale.
